Geographical Location
They are mostly found in the northern hemisphere. |
The arctic tundra is strictly located in the northern hemisphere. It includes the northern areas of Europe (Lapland and northern Scandinavia), Asia (Siberia and northern Russia), North America (Alaska and North Canada) and Greenland. In the southern hemisphere, arctic tundra-like environments are located on isolated islands off the coast of the Antarctic, as well as the Antarctic Peninsula. They cannot be classified as part of the arctic tundra biome because they are too cold and are covered in just snow and ice.
